Q: Is it allowed for the internal supervisor to supervise more than 2 students?

A: No, the internal supervisor cannot supervise more than 2 students at the same time.  

 

Q: What can I do if the university I want to apply to does not know what EJSP is?

A: An introduction to the program is provided on the EJSP website, you can attach it when applying to external universities. You can also seek the help of your internal supervisor. The EJSP administration  will assist if the external university seeks further  information .

 

Q: If the student must remain more than 6 months to gain the required language proficiency, what shall I do?  

A: Students are not allowed to study language more for than 6 months otherwise it would be considered a full scholarship and not training, so it is better to transfer to a full scholarship.

 

Q: Why do I need two approvals from both the department and college councils?

A: The first approval is to get to be allowed to study in this mode of study, i.e. Joint Supervision, to then become an enrolled within EJSP. The second approval is to start studying a specific major in the external university under the supervision of the supervisors as mentioned in the admission letter, and to become a Student within EJSP.

 

Q: Should I travel to finish the admission procedures at the external university?

A: Admissions procedures are usually done remotely through an electronic system, so no need to travel.  But you have to inquire about it from the external university directly

 

Q: Who is grants the degree and issues the certificate after completing the degree requirements?

 A: Much the same as a full scholarship degree, the certificate will be awarded by the external university according to its academic regulations. The study mode will not be shown on it.

 

Q: How long does the language study usually take? And how many chances do I get for the  language opportunity?

A: The duration is based on the score received from the language skills test (IELTS), and the EJSP administration requires it to be not less than the three moths nor more than 6 months. It is taken before starting the Ph.D program. The language opportunity is available only once.

 

Q: A- Is the duration of language study included in the duration of  the Ph.D. study?

A: Studying Language has a separate period from the period of Ph.D.  study. However, The language opportunity is available for a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months depending on the language score before starting.

B- Where can I study the( Language Opportunity)?

In a certified language institute, which is affiliated with an external university recommended by the Ministry of Education and the student can only supply us with a conditional offer from the university she is planning to study in.

 

Q: When does the enrolled student get her teaching load reduced?

A: According to Article  9  , Student will be entitled to a partial reduction after getting the scholarship decree letter.

In this regard, reduced teaching loads means that the student will be given an equivalent of four to six teaching units per week as either  teaching  or administrative load (Article 1).

 

Q: Am I free to choose: a) any university even if not British nor Australian, b) any field of specialization?

A) The university you choose has to meet the following requirements:

  1. Not to be an American University
  2. To be one of the top fifty universities in the subject area according to local ratings.
  3. To be recommended by Saudi Ministry of  Education within the major for the same scientific degree. Please check the ministry site (https://ru.moe.gov.sa/Search).
  4. To meet any additional conditions set by your department and college.

B) Regarding the specialization, you have to consult your department and college.

 

Q: Am I responsible for requesting the approvals of the department and college councils for my offer letter?
A: No, it is not your responsibility. The EJSP administration will contact your college to obtain the necessary council approvals after verifying that the offer letter contains all the required information.

 

Q: How do I get the approval of the department on the internal supervisor?
A:
After selecting the internal supervisor you should send us her/ his CV. The EJSP administration will then contact the department to obtain their approval. In case you did not choose a supervisor yourself, we will communicate with the department to ask them to nominate an appropriate supervisor.
